Join us for the first online session of the los viernes históricos colloquium. We are pleased to welcome Sven Beckert as our speaker. After a presentation of his recently published book Capitalism, he will engage in a conversation about the history of capitalism in Latin America with the other participants.

Sven Beckert is Laird Bell Professor of History at Harvard University. His research centers on the history of the United States in the nineteenth century, especially the history of capitalism in its economic, social, political, and global dimensions. He is co-editor of the book series America in the World at Princeton University Press and co-chair of the Weatherhead Initiative on Global History (WIGH). Among other books, he has published The Monied Metropolis and the award-winning Empire of Cotton.
